Every morning, we always remember to brush our teeth and put on deodorants as part of our morning hygiene routine. We do these everyday because they’re important if we want to have fresh breath and avoid body honor.

And just like brushing or using deodorants, there are certain beauty habits that you should keep in mind if you want to have longer lasting looks.

Curious as to what these are? Here are beauty habits to add to your morning routine.

Drink water as soon as you wake up

Drinking water as soon as you wake up is recommended as it helps boost your metabolism, aid you in digestion and keep your skin healthy.

You can also infuse your water with lemon for added electrolytes. This is a great drink that helps boost your metabolism, provides you energy (a great substitute for coffee), and hydrates you quicker.

But that’s not all, it also stimulates your brain to make you more alert as you go along your day.

Use oil

There’s no need for all those expensive and trending oils. Simply invest in one oil. Yup. Just one.

What’s great about this is that you know exactly what you are putting in your face unlike all the other beauty products that have all sorts of ingredients that can damage your skin.

So what oil should you get? I recommend olive oil, vitamin E oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil. These hydrate your skin and give it the nutrients it needs.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating helps remove dead skin cells and show the healthy and glowing skin underneath. Not only that but it also reduces the appearance of fine lines on your face!

You can easily exfoliate in the shower or do a simple face scrub. Incorporate this into your daily morning routine and watch your skin glow.

A great exfoliating scrub that I’d recommend is St Ives Acne Control Apricot Face Scrub. It exfoliates deeply and helps prevent acne.

However, you can also create a scrub right at home. Simply mix olive oil and sugar with a 2:1 ratio – a cup of olive oil and a half cup of sugar.

Replace your pillowcase

I’d suggest doing this every other day in the morning. Avoid doing it at night since you’ll probably be too exhausted by then to even think of replacing your pillowcase.

By including this in your morning routines, you’ll have a pillowcase that does not contaminate your face and cause any breakouts.

Don’t forget the SPF

Before you leave the house, don’t forget to rub or spray sunscreen into your skin. Don’t let all your beauty habits go to waste.

For a great sunscreen, I recommend Cetaphil’s Pro Oil Absorbing Moisturizer which contains SPF 30! It has a 4  in 1 formula to control oil, hydrate and provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection so your skin is well protected from the harmful rays of the sun.

If you’re wondering how much SPF you need, SPF 15 or 30 is enough. But do note that no sunscreen can block UV rays. SPF 15 can block 93%, SPF 30 is enough to block 97%, and SPF 50 can block 98% of the sun’s rays.

If you’re planning to stay out in the sun for an extended time, use SPF 30 or above.
