Clean it with vinegar

Vinegar is one of the best ways to clean your dishwasher. It can dissolve mineral deposits, remove grime, and sanitize your dishwasher. To do this dishwasher hack, simply place a bowl on the top rack. The dishwasher should be empty except for the bowl. Oh, and make sure the bowl is dishwasher-safe. Then, fill it with white vinegar. Close the dishwasher and run a full cycle! Choose the hottest setting for this one.

Once you’re done, you’re left with a clean dishwasher!

Rinse vegetables

Cooking a big meal? Save time by having your dishwasher help in rinsing the vegetables. Simply run your veggies through a rinse-only cycle and don’t add any dishwasher.

For a more thorough clean, you can put a little bit of white vinegar in the dishwashing detergent slot. This will act as a nontoxic rinse agent. If you did this, you’ll have to briefly run the vegetables under the faucet to remove the white vinegar.

Use less dishwasher agent

Cook salmon filet

This one’s a fun experiment and a pretty cool dishwasher hack if you ask me. According to Real Simple, all you have to do is season two salmon filets with olive oil, lemon or lime juice, salt, and pepper. Then, use two airtight foil packets to seal.

Place these packets in the top rack and run a normal cycle. Make sure there’s no soap. Once done, remove and enjoy!

Keep food warm

This hack’s pretty clever. If your oven is already full, you can use your dishwasher to keep food warm. Just set the dishwasher to dry cycle (no water) and leave your dish on the top rack. Once you’re ready to eat, you’ve got yourself a nice and toasty meal.

Steam vegetables

Aside from cooking salmon filet, dishwashers can also steam vegetables. Brit + Co has this dishwasher hack tested. Simply place your vegetables (already chopped) into a mason jar and add a cup of water. You can season it with herbs, lemon, spices, and butter. Then close the lid.

To steam, put the jar on the top rack and run a normal cycle. Once done, you’ll have a perfectly seasoned vegetables ready to eat.

Sanitize makeup brushes

Don’t have the time to clean your makeup brushes? Pop them in the dishwasher and you’ve got yourself perfectly cleaned and sanitized makeup brushes.
