As a host, it is your responsibility to provide your guests with everything they need to feel comfortable. This includes providing all necessary bathroom essentials.
Keeping your guest’s comfort in mind, it is important to provide them with the following:
Toilet paper
This is the most obvious of all bathroom essentials, but it is imperative that you provide this for your guests.
Tissues
Be sure to have tissues on hand for situations where there may be a need to blow noses.
Window coverings and shower curtains for privacy
While a bathroom should be a private room, it can get uncomfortable if your guest feels that they have no privacy. Providing window coverings and shower curtains is a great way to ensure that your guests will feel comfortable.
Lighting
Make sure that there are adequate lighting options available in the bathroom. If there are windows, ensure that the lighting options are not obstructed by drapes or other window coverings.
Bath towels and hand towels
This may seem like an obvious one, but it is important that there are enough bath and hand towels available for your guests.
Washcloths
Some people prefer to have a washcloth when they shower, so have these available as well.
Bath mat
If your bathroom has a shower, provide at least one bath mat for your guest to step on. This will ensure that they do not slip.
Trash can
Make sure to provide your guest with a trash can so that they do not have to go searching for one. This will also prevent them from having to throw trash on the floor.
Toiletries
While you should not provide all of your guests’ toiletries, it is usually okay to provide them with the things they will need for each specific day that they are staying with you. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Body wash or bar soap
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes
Mirror
While you will generally provide all of the above, some people like to bring their own mirror with them when they travel. Providing a mirror is a great way to ensure that your guests will have everything they need as well as ensuring that your bathroom is not cluttered with personal items.
Plunger
If you have a toilet that likes to run, providing your guests with a plunger will ensure that they are not inconvenienced.
Basic medicines
Provide your guests with medications or other necessities. This way, your guests will not have to go into your medicine cabinet. Some basic ones include, but are not limited to:
- Advil or Tylenol
- Anti-diarrheal medicines
- Laxatives
- Anti-acids
- Cough drops or lozenges
- Anti-nausea medication
- Contact lens solution and cases
Laundry hamper
Provide your guests with a designated hamper to place their dirty laundry in. This is a great way to ensure that you do not accidentally use their laundry.
Diffusers and scented candles
These are great ways to keep your guests feeling relaxed. They also cover up any odors that may be lingering.
Fresh flowers and plants
Flowers and plants add a nice touch to a room. They also provide a great scent for your guests.
Wall art or framed photos
Having some kind of wall art or framed photos not only gives walls a nice touch; it also helps your guests feel at home.
There are many other bathroom essentials that you can provide for your guests, but you should always make sure to provide the above.
This will provide your guests with a much more comfortable stay, and ensure that they are not inconvenienced in any way.
