Laundry rooms are often one of the messiest parts of the house. It doesn’t help that doing laundry is your least favorite chore, but it’s one of the things you just have to do to get on with life.

Despite these, making your laundry look more organized and put together might just help you feel more serene and efficient. Here are practical laundry room organization ideas you’ll actually want to try!

Let’s get started!

Add a Few More Hanging Bars, Drip Hangers or a Rod

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBtfNn0H5ii/

Maximize your laundry room’s space with hanging bars, drip hangers, or rods. If you have unused wall space, simply install a few tension rods, and voila you now have a place for air-drying or for hanging freshly laundered clothes.

Drip hangers are also perfect for this job if you have no dryer or a clothes line in the room. Hang it anywhere you like and you’ve got yourself a more organized laundry room in minutes.

SHOP RODS

Have a Foldable Drying Rack

If you don’t have any space for drip hangers, rods, or hanging bars, consider getting a foldable drying rack. It’s super versatile and easy to store when it’s not in use.

Buy a foldable drying rack that can at least hold up to 32 pounds of wet clothes so you don’t have to worry about it collapsing.

SHOP FOLDABLE DRYING RACKS

Use Large Organizing Baskets

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBXKUwSlTeA/

Organize your laundry fast and easily by investing in large organizing baskets. What makes these pretty cool is that you can quickly hide any mess in the laundry room by just stuffing your laundry and items in one large basket. It’s a neat trick that’ll make your laundry look better without much effort!

SHOP LARGE ORGANIZING BASKETS

Build Behind The Door Shelves

A lot of people overlook the space behind the door. And those who don’t, see it as the perfect storage spot. Simply build your own shelves and mount them on the wall space just behind the laundry door. Make sure not to build these too deep or you risk not being able to open your laundry door to its fullest.

To get the maximum depth for your DIY shelves, subtract an inch from the distance between the wall and your laundry door’s hinge.

Separate colors as you wear your clothes

This one’s a neat trick. It saves you time and keeps your laundry room organized. Buy a three-piece hamper and designate where the darks, whites, and colored clothes go. By the end of the day, toss your clothes in the designated hamper and you don’t have to separate the colors when it’s laundry time!

SHOP THREE-PIECE HAMPERS

Make the best of awkward gaps

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBk9-BylD3T/

Does your laundry room have any awkward gaps between the dryer, washer, walls, and cabinets? How about making the best out of it?

How?

Get slim rolling carts! A single one can make organizing your laundry room easier. Pretty neat, huh? And it requires zero effort.

SHOP SLIM ROLLING CARTS

Install More Counter Space

https://www.instagram.com/p/B_urbX7DaCC/

Do you find yourself always looking for some space to fold your clothes? Say no more.

Why not install more counter space into your laundry room? Try installing a plywood counter on top of your dryer just like how Vintage Revivals did in this tutorial. This will give you a folding station and more space in the room!

Hang a Pegboard Wall

It’s easy to find yourself in a messy and unorganized laundry room when you have tools lying all around. Organize your cleaning supplies on your wall with a pegboard. It easily transforms your space and makes finding for stuff easier.

Say goodbye to wasted time looking for your cleaning supplies!

BUY PEGBOARDS

What can you do with towels? You can hang them, fold them, or roll them. Keep your towels organized and occupying less space by rolling them and using a towel organizer to keep them organized and easy to spot. You can use these for before and after washing towels.

SHOP TOWEL ORGANIZERS

This is probably the easiest laundry room organization ideas on this list. Install hooks behind your doors or on the wall to hang your knick-knacks, bags, and other items. This keeps the room tidy and organized.

Here’s a tip. Paint the hooks with the same color as your wall to make them blend in.

SHOP HOOKS

You can go a little bit crazy here and label EVERYTHING. Label your baskets and bins so you don’t have to waste your time looking for the right stuff. Use chalkboard labels so you can simply erase and reuse if needed.

SHOP CHALKBOARD LABELS

Pantry organization may be the last thing you’re thinking of today. But hey, pantry organization is a rather fun and exciting way to bring out the creativity in you.

Plus, you can show off your amazing pantry when neighbors and friends come over.

You can start off by emptying your entire pantry, and thoroughly cleaning it. Toss out anything that’s expired or not frequently used. Starting fresh will help keep things organized longer.

After clearing out old items, you can easily see what’s left to organize which will help you from purchasing unnecessary storage containers. Now, here are 10 fun and genius ways on how to organize a pantry.

Baskets are to love

https://www.instagram.com/p/BR2HAyyhJQx/?utm_source=ig_embed

Make use of vertical wall space by placing baskets on high and low shelves. Baskets up high can contain seasonal items like Christmas cookie cutters while baskets down below will be for kid-friendly essentials.

Swap for pull-out drawers

https://www.instagram.com/p/BR1_yyiB-id/?utm_source=ig_embed

If baskets aren’t your thing, then pull-out drawers might be. Fill the space below the shelves with pull-out wire shelves (great for storing your kid’s favorite snacks and lunch supplies) instead of leaving it empty. They’re a kid-appropriate height, too!

Dress the door with shelves

https://www.instagram.com/p/BLyjezpgO1h/?utm_source=ig_embed

Putting a rack or shoe organizer on the back of the door can be used for storing condiments, spices, and other loose items. You can also hang kitchen utensils and dishcloths by putting a corkboard on the door. Also, with the use of chalkboard paint or contact paper, you can write down important reminders, grocery lists, and sweet notes to your family members.

Store dry goods in glass jars

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-QZyZ8jQfZ/

Transferring common ingredients (like flour, sugar, brown sugar, pasta, and so on) into large glass jars with lids can be aesthetically beautiful. The same goes for small glass jars full of ingredients such as spices, nuts, and dried fruits.

You can even take the jars to grocery stores for purchasing grains and beans because stores that sell bulk staples can give you a lower price than its pre-packaged counterpart.

Laundry bags are not only for laundry

Found at Reader’s Digest

Hampers and mesh laundry bags aren’t just for laundry! Use hampers for storing large items, like reusable shopping bags (you can also keep plastic grocery bags tucked away by rolling and stuffing them in an empty Clorox container).

To prevent the dry skins of garlic and onions from going all over the pantry shelves and floor, use mesh laundry bags. These bags also help boost air circulation so your produce will stay fresh longer.

Double purpose items

A two-tiered Lazy Susan or dishes that aren’t used every day, such as cake stands, can be used as extra storage for pantry organization by placing small bowls or saucers both on top and underneath them on the pantry shelf.

Related: How to Make A Small Kitchen Look Bigger

Horizontal stacking

Found at Driven By Decor

You can stack PET bottles or water bottles in file folder holders rather than storing them vertically, which takes up more space. Another hack is to use a rubber mat with a series of grooves that can keep stacked cylinders from rolling away.

Get cans under control

Having everything in plain sight is an easy way to tell when you’re running low on your favorite soup. To do this, you can place cans horizontally on a wire basket to maximize space.

If you’re not into label makers, make use of cute, decorative decals or colorful washi tapes to quickly label jars and other containers. Make sure to write down expiration dates as well to prevent consuming expired goods.

Having a pretty background might motivate you to keep the contents in order. To do this, you can line the walls with a favorite pattern or paint a colorful background to transform your pantry.

Another option if you’re revamping your pantry space is to install tiles so that it is easy to clean whenever you need to.

Having to look through a cluttered and incredibly packed dresser is already a nightmare – much worse if you’re rushing and about to be late.

Moreover, your closet might even collapse because everything you stashed in it weighs too heavy than it could carry.

If you’re having problems like this for a while now, maybe it’s time to check on your dressers and reorganize. To start with, here are some genius tips to organize dresser drawers.

Declutter Your Dresser

If you haven’t emptied your dresser for a while now, do so. Make sure to put everything in one place – this means you have to do your laundry beforehand so nothing would be left out. Check out these laundry hacks to save time!

One-by-one, assess the clothes you have and categorize them between a) To use b) To dispose and c) To donate/sell.

Just decluttering your dresser could help you free up a huge amount of space which would be meant for the clothes you actually used.

Sort Your Clothes Into Different Categories

Whether it’d be according to use (work, gym, daily errands) or type (shirts, sweaters, shorts), organize clothes in a way that’s efficient for you.

If you see that a pile of clothes you’ve sorted seems too large, you can sort it again into subcategories.

Having it divided into groups makes it easier to look through clothes, making you a lot faster in picking your outfits.

Related: Stop Being Messy and Get Organized in 6 Easy Steps

Store Your Clothes In Their Best Storage Areas

Jackets, jeans, and other bulky clothing would work better stored on open closets with the use of hangers and hooks.

This would give more space for smaller pieces such as t-shirts and sleepwear for dressers.

Placing them in storage areas best suited for them makes better use of your closets and dressers.

Use Dividers for Undergarments

When bras, underwear, and socks get mixed up together, it becomes difficult to assess how much of each you have before you need to do the laundry.

It’s even more frustrating if you have to remove everything just to find what you needed for the day.

To organize dresser drawers for your undergarments, buy boxes with small divisions to put in your closets. Keep your undergarments separated by using different boxes. Or you can use these drawer dividers.

For ones you use rarely and on special occasions, it is best to store them separately as they would only become clutter among your daily pieces.

Related: 8 Genius Closet Organization Ideas That Will Change Your Life

Rotate Your Wardrobe Seasonally

If you don’t have enough space in your closet to accommodate clothing for all the 4 seasons in a year, it’s best to store them for now and bring them out every start of the season.

On the other hand, you can organize dresser drawers by placing the off-season clothes on the bottom part of the drawer/closet. This way the items you need are the first things you see and reach upon opening your drawer.

Label Your Drawers

If you find difficulty remembering where you place your t-shirts from your workout clothes, perhaps it’s best to label them properly.

This also helps in making sure everyone in the household could place back newly laundered clothes in the right place, especially in shared cabinets.

For those who are always on the go or live in a small-spaced apartment, having less is the best way to live.

Otherwise known as minimalistic living, this lifestyle focuses on spending less on the unnecessary stuff (like having too many clothes) and focusing more on what matters.

You’d be surprised at how much space and money you’d saved by incorporating this in your life!

There are different ways to start this lifestyle. However, the very first step would most certainly be to purge your belongings.

If you always find yourself rummaging through your closet but still couldn’t find anything to wear, it’s probably time to clean up your wardrobe.

Whether you want to start a minimalist lifestyle or just want a functional wardrobe for less, a minimalist capsule wardrobe is a must-try.

But what really is a minimalist capsule wardrobe?

It’s simply a collection of your favorite clothes – those of which you can mix and match to create multiple outfits for any occasion while being able to use around 50% of these pieces on whatever season. Maybe more.

It doesn’t have to be trendy or expensive. What actually matters is you feel good and look good in it!

Now that you have the basic idea of what it is and how it functions, here are the steps on how to start a minimalist capsule wardrobe.

Step 1: Gather

Take all your clothes out of their boxes, closets, bags, and other places you used to keep them then place them in one area. Also include all your shoes, jewelry, and accessories.

Now you can see the bulk you have accumulated from spending on clothes, especially the ones you’ve only worn a few times if not never.

Assessing how much clothes you have would help you evaluate if you need to replace some clothes or not.

Step 2: Sort

There are different ways to sort your mountain-high wardrobe and transform it into your minimalist capsule wardrobe. This article on how to thin out your closet might help you!

Here’s one way to do it that would make the next steps simpler for you. Sort your clothes according to how much you love each piece.

These categories could be:

I love it – I plan to wear it often and it fits well on me!

It’s okay – It fits well but it does not bring spark to me/Not sure when to wear it

Unusable – It doesn’t fit me/It’s too damaged to be used

After sorting it into these categories, place the okay’s and unusable in a box.

Store the okays while you can donate, recycle and open up a garage sale for the unusable later.

Step 3: Establish your Base Wardrobe

Next up is to build your base wardrobe. This isn’t your minimalist capsule wardrobe just yet, but it could be.

It’s actually a collection of garments you will really need almost every time or per season.

Moreover, it’s usually what you mix and match along with your capsule wardrobe to make distinguishing outfits.

This may include workout attires, tank tops for layering, your jackets and sweatshirts for colder seasons, and finally formal attire and accessories for special occasions.

Limit yourself to about 10 pieces from your sorted clothes for each category.

Remember that this isn’t your capsule wardrobe just yet. They’re the necessary outfits needed for you to be able to do certain things such as attending formal occasions or working out!

Step 4: Work on Your Capsule Wardrobe

Now this is the part where you’d need constant planning, and the best way to start is to observe your lifestyle. Where do you spend most of your time in a week and how often do you go there?

Knowing how often you need to use a certain type or category of clothes per week will help you determine which ones to invest more space on in your minimalist capsule wardrobe.

Some of these categories could be:

> Office (meetings, work)

> Outdoor (working out, gardening)

> Daily clothes (staying at home, daily errands)

> Formal occasions (weddings, concerts)

> Casual fun (dates, parties)

Take the top 3 most used categories above and use it to build your capsule wardrobe.

If perhaps you work during weekdays and own a company shirt to be used from Monday to Thursday, juggling 4 pairs of slacks or skirts should be enough.

You can then have 3 pairs of jeans for casual attire and 6 different blouses and shirts for Fridays and weekends. 4 pairs of footwear: one for office and 2 for casual and the last one for formal occasions could also work for your minimalist capsule wardrobe.

That’s about 17 core pieces for your wardrobe that you can style. That is if your lifestyle revolves only around work, some casual fun, and daily errands.

Some pieces from your top 3 used categories can be used for the other activities you do less often. If not, add a few pieces for these events. And you can definitely use them to make your wardrobe look more expensive than it should be!

The rest of the clothes you love? Keep them in a box and bring them out to swap for your minimalist capsule wardrobe at the start of a new season!

Step 5: Store and Reassess

You might have been wondering where you will put the other clothes, especially the ones you have categorized as ‘okay’ in Step 2.

Every start of a new season, check your capsule wardrobe, and follow Step 2 again.

Follow a one in, one out procedure to make sure the quantity in your minimalist capsule wardrobe stays the same.

Take out the pieces of clothes that are already torn, don’t fit, or you just don’t like anymore.

Afterward, check on the clothes you’ve categorized as ‘okay’ and reassess. Pick out ones you feel like using now while sorting the ones you think you won’t ever use and again, donate or dispose of them.

This makes you maximize the clothes you currently have. Moreover, it saves you lots of cash for the next time you need it too!

If you’re having a hard time doing a mix and match with your wardrobe, you can learn from these habits of stylish women!

We love our clothes so much that even my favorite highschool shirt is still with me. Yes, it no longer fits me but I just can’t let it go for some reason.

However, not letting go of our favorite worn-out clothes will overflow our closet. So today, I will teach you 8 ways on how to declutter clothes to thin out your closet.

How to Start

To declutter clothes, make sure you have some boxes labeled with give, upcycle, and donate.

Remember that you are decluttering so having labeled boxes next to you will help you avoid items and clothes getting scattered on the floor. It also saves you time in fixing.

Visualize

You have to visualize how you want your closet to look like after you declutter clothes. In this way, you will have an idea of how many items you have to keep and let go of.

A thinned out minimalist wardrobe is less stressful and easier to handle. So, carefully decide which stuff to let go.

Pair-less sock

Still hoping to reunite your pair-less sock to its match? Oh please if it has been months since you’ve last seen its pair, it’s time to move on now.

If you have a dog like ours who steals socks and eats ‘em, I’m sorry but the dog has to go. Just kidding, I mean the socks have to go.

Stained, Ripped and Faded

Using stained, ripped and faded clothes doesn’t only add up to the clutter in your closet. It also puts you out of style.

If it’s already stained, ripped, and faded beyond recognition throw it away or donate it!

Clothes that no longer fit?

What are you waiting for? Give the hand-me-downs to your younger sister or to a neighbor. Are you still waiting for your daughter to wear that?

Ill-fitting clothes will wear down your style and we don’t want that. Keep clothes that perfectly fits you and shows off your glamorous body.

Undergarments

We feel like we can keep on using our undergarment even for a decade because who cares. Girl that’s not only gross, it is also very unhygienic.

Undergarments smell and wear out quickly so you have to assess which of your undergarments has to go. Throw out the ill-fitting bra, faded underwear, anything with loose garters.

Accessories

Free up space on your jewelry storage by finally getting rid of broken accessories. Also, here’s a good fashion tip: When you buy accessories, look for pieces that compliment your accessory pile.

Don’t just buy an accessory because it’s cute. Be smart and know what accessories will flatter your clothes and other accessories.

Do not throw unless it’s impossible to repair it

Have you tried discarding an old shirt and suddenly feeling regretful of throwing it? I’ve done that many times.

Only throw clothes as the last resort because someone can benefit from it, a friend or a sister. Or you might need it for future events like costume parties or whatnot.

Don’t forget to save this post to Pinterest for later!

In the kitchen, organization is king. It doesn’t matter whether your kitchen is big or small.

If you love cooking and you want to be as efficient as can be, then you will surely love these kitchen organization ideas we have in store for you.

Mason Jars

Mason jars have become one of the must-haves in every kitchen as of late, we say it’s justified. From its stylish yet simple design, it’s no wonder the mason jar has become a very trendy kitchen item. You can store almost anything in them, from sugar to pasta as well as kitchen utensils.

They also make your cooking more efficient since you can see their contents so it reduces the time of looking through different canisters. It also has different designs that can suit your taste whether you are going for the rustic or modern theme.

Open shelving

Another kind of accessory that you would enjoy is an open shelf. This kitchen organization idea is primarily centered around storage as well as an easy access to kitchen utilities such as pots, pans, and utensils.

This also encourages you to better organize it since it’s an open shelf and people can see what you have placed there. Regardless you will surely understand its worth once you start working the kitchen with it.

Lazy Susans

People don’t seem to understand the beauty of a lazy Susan. This kitchen tool does not only help you in icing the cake, but it can also serve as a spice rack when you do not need it. This way you can gently turn the Susan around until you can find the spice you need for a certain meal you are currently cooking.

This also reduces countertop clutter and would make your kitchen a little if not more spacious.

The perfectly folded clothes, the empty garbage and laundry bins, the organized bookshelf. These are just some of the things that makes me feel so accomplished on my rest day. So when I heard about Marie Kondo Organizational Tips, it just blew my mind.

Today we are going to talk about genius tips from Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. Are you living with a person who owns a lot of stuff and can’t just find a way to keep it? This is going to be perfect for you.

Set up a daily housekeeping routine

It’s good to start your morning with a plan on how you’re gonna clean your house. From making your bed, to opening up the window, and putting things back to where they belong, they are all important in keeping an organized home.

Prepare for bed each night

We like cleaning in the morning but we hate tidying up at night. It’s important to place everything in order at night to lessen the next day’s cleaning tasks.

Keep what you need

Let go of your hoarding attitude and just keep what you really need. It will save you lots of spaces.

Related: How to Start a Capsule Wardrobe (A Step-By-Step Guide)

Know that things are feelings

Marie Kondo said, “ things are feelings” thus we have to respect them. Start fixing scattered clothes and objects on the floor. Fix the slipping clothes in your cabinet. They might start talking if you just ignore them.

Try the art of folding

Marie Kondo recommends you to stack your clothes vertically in your closet after you fold them. Doing this will save you more space being able to fit 20 clothes in a space you normally fit for 40 clothes.

Practice symmetry

One requirement in tidying up with Marie Kondo is sorting items with like items. It is not just easy to look at, but it’s also easier to find.

Related: How to Thin Out Your Closet (And Declutter Clothes) in 8 Ways

Shred the papers

Opt for soft copies of your favorite “papers”. It’s easier to sort files than organize a filing cabinet. Don’t wait for your rats to shred the papers for you.

Detoxify your home

Marie Kondo says, the only reason why we buy extra storage is because we have too much stuff. Let your house breath and give away the things that you don’t really need. It will save you from having to buy another storage for unused items.

Put it back to where it belongs

Start putting things back to where they belong after you use them. I know this could be a challenge especially when you’re in a rush but think about the time you’re gonna spend reorganizing and fixing those stuff. It will just take you a few seconds.

Store everything in upright position

Another clever tip from Marie Kondo is storing your stuff upright. She argues, it’s cleaner to look at and you can easily spot something you need when you need it.

Today, you learned 10 wonderful tips on tidying up with Marie Kondo. If you have done some of it, you’re off to a good start. Keep practicing and be an expert in organizing like Marie Kondo!

If you think getting organized and having a neat home is a waste of time, prepare to be surprised. Neat people know that you don’t need to devote several hours to keep your living space less messy. All you need is to learn a few easy steps to incorporate into your daily habits and you’re sure to have an organized house.

Declutter your home with these simple easy ways to transform from messy to neat.

Give each item a home

If you find yourself losing things around the house, you might be the type of messy person who drops things where you’re standing. You have glasses on top of the refrigerator, clothes on the arms of couches and keys forgotten by the door, you might need to force yourself to give your items a home.

What does this mean? For each of your items, designated a place where they should go. When you take an item from its home, make sure you put them back exactly where you got them.

This is one of the most important habits of people with homes that are organized.

Take care of small tasks now

Procrastination can be the main cause of all the mess around the house. If a certain task only needs a few minutes to complete, make sure to do it right away.

List down the simple tasks that take around 2 to 3 minutes to complete and do these first thing in the morning. And when you come home, make it a habit to put your stuff away immediately.

Related: 6 Genius Tips to Organize Your Dresser

Reward yourself

If you want to stay organized, you can try giving yourself a reward. It speeds up the process and soon enough you’ll find yourself with a neat home.

While organizing or tidying, you can listen to your favorite podcast or to your favorite band. Tasks don’t have to be unplesant if you know how to pair it with something pleasurable.

Soon enough, you will find yourself looking forward to tidying up and organizing around the house.

Make your bed immediately after waking up

Doing this on a daily basis will make it a habit.

Right after waking up, make your room look neater and organized by making your bed immediately. Plus, it helps you stay tidy all throughout the day by tackling your bed first.

Related: 5 Habits to Wake Up at 5 AM And Feel Energized Every Single Morning

Once a month, clean your refrigerator

If you’re messy, your refrigerator might be the same!

Fridges often get packed and cluttered with expired food that can be dangerous to our health. It’s important that you take the time to clean your refrigerator once a month. Use a mixture of 1 part water and 1 part vinegar to wipe.

Don’t let things pile up

If you hate cleaning, chances are you’ve got a lot of things piled up around the house. A small task is easy to do but if you let things pile up, it will be harder to deal with and a lot longer to do.

Before things pile up, try to tackle them as soon as you can. Take for example, laundry is an easy task to do when there’s only a few dirty clothes to wash. But if you let it turn into a mountain of dirty clothes, you’ll have a hard time to deal with it.

Setting up a home office is most probably the best way to motivate yourself to be productive when working at home.

However, it could be a bit tricky… especially when things you needed start to magically disappear while you’re rushing to meet your deadline.

To help you out on this concern, here are brilliant home organization ideas to maximize your productivity.

Never Forget the Basics

Let’s start our office home organization ideas with the basics. If you aim to have a working home office, make sure the necessities are in there.

A desk file on or near your work desk works wonders in making all of your papers and stationery organized and within reach.

Label Everything

Label your boxes, drawers, and even your folders. This would save you a lot of time when you know exactly where to look.

Turn it up a notch and color code them as well!

Related: 10 Genius Ways to Organize Your Pantry

Store Unneeded Materials

Most of the time, we wouldn’t be using all our office supplies all at once.

Keep your extra supplies in containers such as boxes, cabinets, and drawers. Just having these out of sight would make your office look more organized.

Put Up A Calendar

Having a calendar placed on top of your desk or on a portion of your wall would help you see your events for the whole month.

Besides, a phone could be a distraction if you end up opening a different app instead of just the calendar.

Set up a To-do List Board
